Growing up in a regional town in the UK my childhood obsession with plane spotting was rooted in the concept of an escape to 'International Glamour'. Similarly I found solace in Madonna's song 'La Isla Bonita' the soundtrack to what I considered to be a more accepting parallel universe on an exotic island. I’ve always been intrigued with the abandoned Kent International Airport. During lockdown I made a film there which layered a karaoke version of La Isla Bonita by Madonna, images of desolate aprons and runways with signifiers of the exotic and opulence. I created a palatial terminal building out of collaged gifs, my portal to a new world
